Continuing Care Assistants are healthcare professionals that provide compassionate care to clients in long-term care, home care, assisted living, and other settings. In this program, you will learn how to provide basic care and support clients in meeting their physical, emotional and psychological needs.
The Continuing Care Assistant Certificate (CCA) program at Oxford International College Halifax is a 26-week, in-person program that prepares students to be qualified CCAs in Nova Scotia. Through interactive academic training, provided by healthcare experts in the field, and hands-on practice through skills development and multiple mentorship placements, our graduates develop a comprehensive understanding of Canadian healthcare protocols and excellent patient-care techniques so they can succeed on the Continuing Care Assistant certification exam and enter into this important, in-demand field.

The Government of Nova Scotia is offering free tuition for domestic students who wish to earn their Continuing Care Assistant Certificate with Oxford International and work as a CCA in Nova Scotia!
Domestic students who begin the Oxford International Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) Certificate program throughout the remainder of 2025 fiscal year will qualify for free tuition! Students who benefit from this scholarship program will be required to work within the publicly funded Nova Scotia continuing care sector (long-term care or home care) for two years (4,160 hours) following their graduation. This scholarship covers the entire cost of domestic students' application fees, tuition, and course materials, but does not include the cost of uniforms ($200 CAD). When you are enrolled in our Continuing Care Assistant Certificate program, you also join Career Academy Canada - a free career-readiness program that's designed to help you identify and map out your career goals, as well as build the skills you need to not only succeed during interviews, but land your dream job. From resume and cover letter writing to networking and interview practice, you'll get access to a variety of in-person and virtual workshops and tools that will help you build your career confidence and successfully enter into the healthcare field.
The Continuing Care Assistant Certificate program develops the skills and attributes students need to deliver respectful, person-focused care to individuals. During the program, you will attend in-person lectures to develop the academic theory and healthcare knowledge required to put your skills into practice with hands-on placements. During the program, you will participate in one skills placement and three mentorship placements in various care settings, including home care, nursing homes, acute care facilities, and other approved care settings that employ CCAs.
